Villa Ortensia lies on the border between Liguria and Tuscany, on a beautiful hill surrounded by chestnut, olive and cherry trees.
Its stone walls keep it cool from the sun's rays from dawn to dusk. On clear days, there is a view spreading from the Apuan Alps across to the Mediterranean Sea. The pleasant sensation of being in another world makes Villa Ortensia a really unique place.
Originally an ancient rural farmhouse, the property has been completely restored and furnished by the owner, who has given it a special personal touch. A warm atmosphere created by antique furniture and paintings wraps the entire home.
Accommodation
The house is on two floors. On the ground-floor, the stone portal leads to the living area, with a pleasant country-style kitchen equipped with everything (dishwasher, fridge, american coffee maker), a 17th century style dining room, a living room with a fireplace and comfortable sofas in perfect harmony with the colours of the terracotta and Tuscan stone pavement, and a bathroom with shower.
A sandstone staircase leads up to the first floor, where a warm parquet gives access to a bright double room with two windows opening onto a wonderful panorama (the beds can be split on request), the master bedroom with a romantic canopy bed, and a charming bathroom with tub.
The décor is upscale and well maintained in every detail - in addition to satellite TV, a CD stereo, a telephone, a mobile phone and internet access at the clients' disposal, you will find hi-fi diffusion in every room, flanders linen bedcovers and sheets, and embroidered bathrobes and towels.
Outside, a large, completely equipped (sun umbrella, table, chairs and sun loungers) patio surrounded by olive trees and a romantic little terrace with a Liberty-style table and chairs offer you complete relax.
Finally, the beautiful swimming pool (occasionally shared with the lovely owners) gives you the excellent opportunity of spending some hours in the sun surrounded by orchards and vegetable gardens.
At your arrival, Letizia will greet you with a warm welcome and a simple dinner lovingly prepared especially for you.
Letizia and her daughter, Francesca, live in eighteenth century villa about 100 meters from Villa Ortensia and are always happy to oblige with advice and assistance while also respecting your privacy.
From Villa Ortensia you can easily reach places of great tourist interest like Cinque Terre, the Golfo dei Poeti, Portovenere and Portofino, the Apuan Alps and white marble quarries in Carrara (20 minutes away by car) or the beaches of Versilia (30 minutes away) the medieval town of Sarzana (10 minutes), the North of Tuscany town of Pisa(40 minutes by car), Lucca (30 minutes), Firenze (1 hour).The beautiful beaches along the coast can be reached in 15 minutes by car.
There are ferry companies that will take you to visit the beautiful Cinque Terre, Golfo dei Poeti, Portovenere and Portofino.
Boats depart daily from the harbour of Lerici, La Spezia and Marina di Carrara (15 km away).
