Agriturismo/Bed & Breakfast 9 rooms On July 1st the Valdorcia was added to UNESCO's World Heritage List. This unique farmhouse is in Tuscany, 40 Km south of Siena, along the old Pilgrim Route to Rome, in the heart of the Orcia valley.
The rooms are furnished like a house, using old farm furniture, some of which are real antiques. The rooms look out over the surrounding countryside with views of Pienza and Monte Amiata. The rooms all have double beds (in some rooms another single bed can be added) with private bathrooms and telephones. The owners chose not to put televisions in the rooms, in order not to disturb the peace of this place, but there are lots of books and magazines available, they think it's nicer to chat over a glass of wine.
The farmhouse offers guests bed, breakfast and dinner, that is served at large tables, together with the family. Every day the menu changes, according to the season and its produce and local tradition. At certain times of the year you can participate in cookery courses.
From next spring it will be possible to swim in the lake, thanks to a special selection of plants including some beautiful water- lilies which will keep the water clean. The owners never wanted a swimming pool, they wanted to leave the surrounding countryside as it was. So they have created this lake in a sheltered position with wonderful views.
